What is a VFL?
VFLs are currently one of the most widely used fiber optic test instruments for tracing optical fiber, verifying continuity, and detecting faults such as breaks, poor connections, and sharp bends in fiber optic cable.

Visual Fault Locator
VFLs, also known as visual fault locators, are devices that can locate breaks, bends, or cracks in optical fiber. They can also locate faults in OTDR dead zones and identify fiber from end to end. Equipped with FC, SC, and ST universal adapters, this fiber optic fault locator can be used without any additional adapters. Compact and lightweight, with a red laser output, it can locate faults in fiber optic cable up to 10 km long.

Types of Visual Fault Locators
Visual fault locators are generally available in pen-type, handheld, and portable models.

The pen-type visual fault locator shown in the figure below is specifically designed for field personnel who need an efficient and economical tool for fiber tracing, fiber routing, and continuity checks in optical networks.
